Desperate Term Aid: Increased Focus, Increased Results
In order for us to improve our ability to help those suffering around the world, we need to simply things. I have written before about how it is important for us to take a new look at the big picture way we engage aid. For a long time, it has simply been “short-term” or “long-term”. These are the two main forms of strategy for our common perception of humanitarian aid. But if we are going to hone in on these issues to accomplish our ultimate goals of helping the most people and ending these problems – then we need to become more intentional. We need to have a better focus and aim. Basically, we just need to do things better… and that starts with how we look at things.
We need to replace “short-term” with “desperate term” in order to funnel our focus down to those who are living in desperate situations: the suffering and the dying. With increased and laser-like focus, we can increase our effectiveness toward a clear goal. Our mindset about humanitarian aid is greatly improved when we think of things in terms of “desperate-term” instead of “short-term”. We can plan with renewed focus and act with increased determination toward this specific goal.
We must begin here – with the most desperate needs in the world. We must focus on desperate-term aid. But, really, overall, we must focus.
